Yash on Rajat Sharma’s Aap Ki Adalat: How He Answered the Tough Questions
Rocking Star Yash recently appeared on Rajat Sharma’s popular show Aap Ki Adalat, and the episode became one of the talking points among his fans.
The show was in Hindi, and Rajat Sharma did what he is known for — he asked direct and sometimes uncomfortable questions. From Rashmika Mandanna’s old “show-off” comment to Shah Rukh Khan, KGF, Toxic, Ramayana and Yash’s growing popularity, there were plenty of topics that could have easily turned controversial.
But what stood out was the way Yash handled most of these questions.
He did not lose his temper. He did not attack other actors. Instead, he usually tried to explain his side calmly.
Rashmika Mandanna Called Yash a “Show-Off”
One of the old controversies brought up by Rajat Sharma was Rashmika Mandanna calling Yash a “show-off” during an old interview.
Rajat asked Yash about it directly.
Yash did not become angry or criticize Rashmika. Instead, he said that someone else’s opinion does not define who he is.
He also explained that Rashmika was quite new to the industry at that time and that such questions are often asked in interviews where celebrities have to give quick answers.
But Yash made an even better point.
He said that he doesn’t like it when his fans disrespect another actor just because that person said something about him.
According to Yash, if someone is really his fan, they should respect other actors too.
That was a mature way of handling an old controversy. He had every opportunity to attack Rashmika, but he chose not to.
“Who Was Yash Before KGF?”
Another question was connected to a comment made by veteran producer Allu Aravind, who had questioned Yash’s popularity before KGF.
The question was basically: Who was Yash before KGF?
Yash didn’t take the comment as a personal attack.
He explained that the success of a movie is never because of one person alone. A film involves the director, producer, actors, technicians, music team and many other people.
Of course, KGF changed Yash’s career completely. But Yash seemed more interested in talking about the film as a team effort rather than trying to prove that he was bigger than someone else.
Did KGF Deliberately Clash With Shah Rukh Khan?
This was another interesting part of the interview.
KGF: Chapter 1 released around the same time as Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero. Because KGF went on to become a huge success, people later started talking about the clash.
Rajat Sharma asked Yash whether the clash was planned.
Yash made it clear that there was no intention to compete with Shah Rukh Khan.
In fact, Yash spoke very respectfully about SRK.
He said that he is a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan and that one film’s box-office result cannot erase what Shah Rukh Khan has achieved for Indian cinema over several decades.
This was probably one of the best moments of the interview.
Yash could have easily said, “My film earned more.”
Instead, he gave credit to Shah Rukh Khan.
Are Other Actors Afraid of Yash?
With Yash becoming one of the biggest stars in Indian cinema, there has been a lot of discussion about film release dates and competition between big actors.
Rajat Sharma brought up this idea and asked Yash whether other actors were worried about him.
Yash didn’t agree with that way of looking at things.
His point was simple:
Actors don’t need to be afraid of each other. Films compete, but people don’t have to become enemies.
Two big movies can release at the same time and both can succeed.
This is quite different from the usual fan wars we see on social media, where fans constantly compare one actor with another.
Was Yash Afraid of Another Big Movie?
Another question was related to Toxic and its release plans.
There were discussions about whether Yash’s film was being moved because of another big movie.
Rajat Sharma asked him directly whether he was scared of the competition.
Yash’s answer was interesting.
He said that he had a time in his life when he had nothing. Today, he has achieved a lot, so he doesn’t feel that he has anything to lose.
But he said there is one thing he does worry about — whether the movie he is making is good enough for the audience.
That is an important difference.
He isn’t saying that every decision is about beating another actor. For him, the bigger concern is making a good film.
The Controversy Around Toxic
Toxic has also faced criticism over some of its visuals and intimate content.
Rajat Sharma questioned Yash about the allegations of vulgarity surrounding the film.
Yash explained that he does not believe in adding intimate scenes simply to attract attention.
He also pointed out that he himself has not even done a kissing scene on screen.
His basic argument was simple:
If something is needed for the story, it can be shown. But it should not be added just for the sake of being vulgar or sensational.
This answer was also important because Yash didn’t completely dismiss the question. He tried to explain where he stands as an actor and filmmaker.
Why Not Just Make KGF 3?
This is something many fans have asked.
After the huge success of KGF, why take a completely different project like Toxic?
Why not simply make KGF 3?
Yash’s answer showed a lot about the kind of career he wants.
He said he likes taking risks.
For him, doing something difficult is also what makes the journey exciting.
If he only wanted to play safe, he could keep returning to the same successful formula.
But Yash seems interested in trying different characters and different kinds of movies.
The ₹4,000 Crore Ramayana Question
Yash is also part of the much-discussed Ramayana project, where he plays Ravana.
Rajat Sharma questioned him about the reported ₹4,000 crore budget.
Yash explained that people should not simply look at that number as the production cost of one movie.
The project involves two parts, international distribution and a large global promotional plan.
So the overall figure includes much more than simply the money spent on shooting the film.
Why Is Yash Playing Ravana Instead of Ram?
This was perhaps one of the most interesting questions.
Many people might naturally expect a star like Yash to play Ram.
So why Ravana?
Yash gave an interesting explanation.
He said that to show how great Ram is, you also need a very powerful Ravana.
Think about it this way.
If the villain is weak, defeating him doesn’t feel like a big achievement.
But if the villain is extremely powerful, intelligent and dangerous, then Ram defeating him becomes much more meaningful.
Yash wants Ravana to be a character where the audience actually feels:
“How can anyone defeat this man?”
And that, according to Yash, will make Ram’s victory even more powerful.
The Bigger Picture
What made Yash’s appearance interesting wasn’t just the questions.
It was the way he answered them.
Rajat Sharma asked questions that could have easily pushed Yash into controversy. There were questions about other actors, old statements, box-office competition, Toxic, KGF, Shah Rukh Khan and even his upcoming Ramayana role.
But Yash mostly stayed calm.
He didn’t try to put another actor down to make himself look bigger.
He didn’t turn every question into a fight.
And he didn’t appear desperate to prove that he was the biggest star in the country.
Instead, many of his answers came back to the same ideas — respect others, take risks, make good movies and don’t allow other people’s opinions to define you.
That may be one reason why the interview connected so well with his fans.
Yash has come a long way from being a Kannada television and film actor to becoming a pan-India star after KGF. But during this interview, he repeatedly tried to show that success hasn’t changed the basic way he looks at people and cinema.
And perhaps that was the biggest takeaway from his Aap Ki Adalat appearance:
You don’t always need a controversial answer to win an argument. Sometimes, staying calm and giving a sensible answer is enough.
